Vanessa Pittard
Director, E-Strategy, Becta (British Educational Communications and Technology Agency)
Vanessa joined Becta, the UK's lead agency for ICT in education, in May 2004 as Director of Evidence and Evaluation after having spent two years leading the ICT Research and Evaluation team at the Department for Education and Skills (DfES), England. At Becta she has led the development of a research and evaluation strategy in support of the national ‘Harnessing Technology' strategy and leads Becta's work in the areas of strategic co-ordination and evaluation, innovation and leading edge developments, and benefit and impact of technology.
At the DfES Vanessa led the ICT Research and Evaluation Team, developing and managing a programme of national ICT and e-learning studies and supporting the development of education strategy and ICT in schools and post-16 e-learning policy. Prior to joining the DfES Vanessa led the Department of Communication Studies at Sheffield Hallam University.
